Expeditious Services have put our money where our heart is and become an official member of Living Wage Foundation. We have joined over 6000 members – including multinational organisations, FTSE 100s and household names – to pay a fair wage for a hard day’s work.
Unlike the National Living Wage, which is set by the government, the Living Wage is independently calculated to reflect the true cost of living with separate weightings for London. Initially set up to create more parity between pay and living costs, the Living Wage Foundation is a celebration of forward-facing businesses who choose to go beyond the government minimums.

At the time of writing, the real living wage is £9.30 in the UK and £10.75 in London. According to Payscale, the average wage for a security officer is £8.80 per hour. Being a Living Wage Foundation member not only benefits all Expeditious employees but the supply chain of other companies we work with and the local economies where our employees live.
The security industry has long had a reputation for exploiting lower-paid workforces, with many companies sourcing labour from multiple sub-contracted supply chains or compromising quality for profits. This leads to poorly trained guards and putting premises, people, and assets vulnerable to risk. New tax and national insurance legislation, IR35, being enforced from April 2021 is something which has long been standard at Expeditious, putting us ahead of many others in the industry.
Two of Expeditious Services core values are to “keep well” and “be you” – focusing on physical and mental wellbeing and enjoying life as an individual. Our decision to join the Living Wage Foundation supports our entire team to live a fulfilling and engaged life, in and out of the office.
Commercial Director Julie Hulme commented: “Being a member of Living Wage Foundation and meeting their pay standards is hugely important to Expeditious Services. Our company slogan is “Protecting The Future”, something we don’t just do in our work with clients, but how we treat our employees. Paying fair wages for fair work has a hugely positive impact on our team and their families, protecting their future.
We passionately value the people we put in charge of protecting our client’s most valuable assets. As much as possible, we support everyone who works for us and strive to set a president for the security industry. Expeditious Services are extremely proud to lead the way in paying a real wage for hard work.”
